We were excited when our daughter, her husband and my grandson wanted to take a trip up to the property. With both of our children having babies, it is touch-and-go when any of them can make a trip up north. We planned on a Saturday through Monday trip.
I actually followed up this trip with another a few days later. This means this blog post is not as detailed as most. I try to do these blog posts immediately after returning home, or I would forget most of what happened or what we did. In any case, this will be a bit shallower than most posts.
We landed at the property mid-day, and our other group arrived just a bit later. As always, we start with prep'ing the camper and cleaning out the building. After we were all setup for the weekend, I took off to start brush-mowing the driveway from the building to the road.
I had moved the brush mower on this trip. This is our new DR Brush Mower that will be another game-changer on the property. I had an older one that we tried to use last year, but it was throwing belts and did not accomplish what we needed. I also hauled a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that I had collected in my garage at home intended to be up north once we had a building.
Some good tacos for supper, and some nice nighttime fireside convos. I slept on my cot in the building, while the others slept in the camper.
We had some french toast and sausage links for breakfast.
Nathan helped me erect a pair of shelves I purchased to store lumber, and I was able to load up some cedar 2x6 I had brought from home. Just laid it out in a manner to allow it to completely dry out since it has been in the elements at home. I have a lot of lumber at home that can be repurposed into structures up north, so there will be many trips hauling wood.
Lorraine and I worked on organizing and labelling the east end of building with the shelving and the drawers. Proper organization has already gotten away from us.
Hot dogs, chips and fruit salad for lunch.
We took our grandson into BRF to go to a playground at a park near the dam. It was a really good time, and the parks are pretty nice for a smaller town.
Campfire dinners for supper. Breakfast burritos for the next morning. Then headed home.
I adore my family, and am so happy when my children and their families can make it up to the property. It is really cool to see my grandchildren grow up with this as a part of their lives. Cool.
